I'm Sarah, founder and CEO, and an experienced environmental consultant. With over twelve years in the industry, I specialize in all facets of material management including permitting, facility operations, compliance, public relations, transportation & disposal and municipal collection programs.
I have always been fascinated by systems – how things work and why. My father started his environmental engineering firm when I was 5 years old so I had the opportunity to watch his business grow and evolve as the needs of the waste industry changed, too. When I was 16 I started working in the “repro” room – preparing 4 inch thick binders full of text, tabs, maps and folders for clients and regulators. As a family we would have thought provoking conversations about material management. We were raised to value honesty and hard-work.
I found my door into the environmental industry when I started working for a local industrial waste hauling company. I helped to grow their local B2B customer base and launch their residential waste services division. It was a great experience that inspired a few different business ideas. Before carrying them out, I decided to hold-off on launching the business and pursue an MBA. Upon graduation, which was more of a confidence boost than anything, I had 3 different business plans prepared to present to investors.
My passion was solving the “paint problem” in New York State. So, I raised funds and launched Olive Ridley in 2017. I had the opportunity to work with brilliant minds all over the continent. The paint business has taken a back-seat to other projects Other endeavors since then include municipal recycling program feasibility studies and for privately held companies - market research, product launch, systems design, asset management, operations management and accounting services.
My current professional and business affiliations include Launch NY; Canisius Women’s Business Center; UB NYSERDA Directed Energy Program; WNY Sustainable Business Roundtable; Product Stewardship Institute; and U.S. Green Building Council.
I hold an MBA from Canisius College and a B.A. in Communication Design from SUNY Buffalo.
